What Flowers Are in Season for a Spring Wedding?
Spring flowers are, without question, some of the best flowers of the whole year. This is the season that brings tulips, ranunculus, specialty daffodils, hyacinth, anemones, and of course, peonies, every dreamy, romantic bloom you can imagine for a wedding day.

Here in Zone 7, March through May brings an incredible range of options:

For fillers and supporting texture, we love working with bupleurum, bells of Ireland, sweet peas, blue star, mint, and yarrow toward the end of the season.
Why Peonies Are So Special
Peonies are my favorite for a reason that goes beyond how beautiful they are. They're incredibly memorable flowers. If your grandmother was married in the spring, there's a good chance she carried peonies too, or maybe you have fond memories of them growing in her backyard, or your mother's. Peony varieties have been grown for generations, and individual plants often get passed down within families because they can live for over a hundred years. That kind of heirloom quality is rare in the flower world, and it's exactly what makes peonies feel so meaningful for a wedding day.
When Are Peonies Actually Available?
Our first peonies typically bloom around April 18th each year, with a bloom window of about six weeks. They also have a remarkably long shelf life: if harvested at the right stage, we can hold them in cold storage for up to 12 weeks. If I know a bride has her heart set on peonies for her bouquet, I plan ahead and hold blooms specifically for her.
That said, farming comes with real variables. This year, for example, a late frost caused our peony buds to abort. When that happens, we lean on relationships with other growers, like a farm in North Carolina, to source peonies for our spring brides. There's never a guarantee with Mother Nature, but we do everything we can to make it happen.
A Spring Palette to Fall in Love With: Blueridge Beauty
My favorite palette for spring is Blueridge Beauty: soft dusty blues, whites, and lavender, built around blooms like blue hydrangea and delphinium, white peonies and ranunculus, and lavender scabiosa, softened with silvery dusty miller foliage.
Blue and white wedding palettes are hugely on-trend right now, but a lot of brides end up with a look that feels identical to countless other blue-and-white weddings. Adding in that lilac and lavender accent is a simple way to make your palette feel distinctly yours while still living in that soft, romantic blue-and-white world everyone loves right now.

Booking Your Spring Wedding
Spring and fall are both in extremely high demand for weddings, but honestly, spring may need to be booked even earlier. Here's why: as a farmer-florist, my time during peak spring bloom season isn't only competing with other weddings. It's also graduation season, Teacher Appreciation Week, and Mother's Day, all major demand periods for flowers on the farm.
Booking early genuinely helps me prioritize your wedding over those other commitments. I never want to have to turn a bride away because her date landed during an already-packed week, so the earlier we lock in your spring date, the more confidently I can plan around it.
